Head west from Warmaster’s Shack and descend slightly, following signs to Stormhill where five Trolls roam, each worth 1,000 runes when killed. This is an ideal early game rune farming spot in The Lands Between. A higher level rune farm can also be found at Mohgwyn Palace which can be reached later after unlocking Torrent, Stormveil Castle, and defeating Godrick the Grafted.

However, low-level characters may find this area too challenging; therefore it may be better saved for later stages of play. Alternatively, fighting Albinauric soldiers at Rose Church can yield even greater returns of runes!
How to Activate Runes in Elden Ring
As soon as a player equips a Great elden ring runes, it will appear as a glowing icon next to their HP, FP and Stamina meters – this effect will remain until either they die or activate another Rune Arc.
Great Runes are key items dropped by Shardbearer Bosses that can be unlocked at Divine Towers to strengthen players until death. Each Great Rune has a specific effect, as well as an associated Divine Tower to unlock it at.
